Some movies and music videos I draw inspiration from

Astheatic: Iove these music videos and movies because they create an extrodinary atmosphere just by the lighting setup. I love the shades of green and blue on these movies and I aim to do the same with mine.

Camera angles: Hitchcocks was a master of the camerea angle for me. He could draw attention from the viewer to areas that were not even in focus. He is minimalist in the camera angles and one of my favourite director of all time.

Horror/Tension:What is a horror movie without creating tension and aprehension on the viewers? I love these movies because they are clever in how to create an atmosphere of tension and horror just by the way a the score and the sound effects are carefully wrapped around it.

Synopsis:

“GUILT” is a shot story about Annie, a woman that blames herself for killing her husband in a car crash. She was the driver and she cannot forgive herself for that. Annie has an alcohol addiction problem and is mentally unstable. She has constant nightmares regarding her guilt. The story unfolds with scenes that interpolates between reality and fiction (her daily basis actions and her nightmares). This short story is also a background narrative  for a music video where story and music will be interposed nicely throughout the film.

Main Influences regarding style

Colour Pallete(Requiem for a Dream)

800px-requiem_for_a_dream_screenshot_2
Large_requiem_for_a_dream_blu-ray6-1024x576

I want a blueshi colour pallet ( it gives always the "night" look even on daylight).

Cuts and Camera angles ( Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo)

I love Hitchcock's movies. His camera style is unique and clever because he know how to draw attention to the crowd towards a specific spots even when they are not in evidence.

Depth of Field. ( to give a really nice "film" look in some of the shots)

Plan and Final Project Description

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE

Title : ”Guilt”

Central proposition or Introduction:   If the classical narrative structure with a nonlinear form was applied to a music video genre, the benefits of film making techniques could enhance the form of music videos.

Aim:  My aim is to merge filmmaking with music video using classical narrative structure with a nonlinear form.  I will achieve creating a short movie that interpolates with music video, using horror and thriller as the genre . The music will be a heavy metal piece as it blends nicely with those two genres. I will be composing the music as well as all creating all sound effects for this video thereby avoiding all copyright issues associated with this project.  The music will be a heavy metal piece as this style blends nicely with the horror and thriller movie genre.  It will feature fast tempos (130-150 bpm), orchestrations, choirs, minor scales (to create a sad mood to the melody) and distorted guitars

Design brief:  I will create a narrative about someone who has lost track of reality, as the result of loss of a family member. The whole issue is driven by guilt as the main character is somehow responsible for the death of that person.  I want to play with idea of the duality between reality and fantasy through madness. I will use influences from horror and thriller movies taking some iconographic elements from these two genres and applying them to the narrative. There will be just 2 characters –  the late husband (just present on the main character’s nightmare) and the wife (main character) .

Specifics:

·         Size; 5-10 minutes film/music video;

·          environment: external and internal shots;

·         media format; video 1280x720.

Inspiration:

Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo, The Birds, Michael Jackson’s Thriller, Dimmu Borgir’s Progenies of the Great Apocalypse.
